What customers say?

“ Probably the best fish and chips in the UK, we were even considering getting a yearly Beamish ticket just to be able to come back here regularly! Watch out though as the queues can get extremely long around school holidays (I would visit Beamish at a quieter time if you can)! The beef dripping adds such an amazing umami flavour to the fish and chips and the coal fires adds a wonderful smokiness which I just do not think can be replicated anywhere else. This is am absolute must when visiting Beamish ”

“ The fish and chips were the best ever in the museum, fresh and soft, but there was no coke on the drinks menu...you have to bring one with you. ”

- Crystal Chan -

“ This is my favourite Fish & Chip shop in the country bar none. Coal powered fryers and chips cooked in beef dripping as they should be. You can get a full portion of Fish and Chips or go for a Dab and Chips which is a half lot of fish with chips. Sometimes tje queue can be long and you may have to wait a bit but let me tell you the food is worth every minutes of the wait. No trip to Beamish is complete without a stop in here. ”

- Rob Cassey -

“ Excellent chips, fish comes in 2 sizes, fish or dab(smaller fish), although there's nothing small about the fish. All cooked in beef dripping. Excellent. ”

“ Been wanting to try these fish and chips for years. Having worked in a chippy for a long time I was intrigued to see a coal fire range and to taste it. The chips were lovely, not as crispy as I like but so tasty and fluffy. Dripping for chips is the best. The fish batter was light and crispy and the fish inside was meaty and tasty. It was so interesting to see the old range and how it worked, and how much hard work it is. The price was reasonable too considering it was inside a tourist trap. I would deffo recommend ”

“ Had lovely Birthday treat at Beamish, love the Fish&Chips at Davies, excellent fish, very tasty, chips was great, but a lot, didn't finish all chippies. Price was good, and service was great. ”

- Marika Majore -

“ Really good quality fish and chips. Great to see them making everything from scratch which definitely added to the whole experience. We waited a fair while to get in which was one of the few bad points but overall I would be back if I was visiting the Beamish again. ”
